- Attorney & Founding Partner
In his career as a civil trial lawyer Greg has tried over 30 jury/bench trials, handled hundreds of arbitrations and resolved even more cases through mediation. A creative and inquisitive mind combined with a naturally competitive spirt propelled Greg to be named a Super Lawyer by his peers in the legal community after only his third year in practice (https://profiles.superlawyers.com/minnesota/st-paul/lawyer/gregory-j-walsh/883958a2-0a85-4040-a873-7cc1fdf852c5.html). Greg has continued to maintain the Super Lawyer recognition over the course of his career. In 2006 Greg gained membership into the Million Dollar Advocates Forum (https://www.milliondollaradvocates.com/) for his work on behalf of a teenager who was significantly injured in an automobile collision. Of all the accolades and awards Greg has received over the years he is most proud of Walsh & Gaertner being named “Best Law Firm in St. Paul in 2017.” This is a testament to the hard work, dedication and passion the attorneys and staff at Walsh & Gaertner bring to the office each and every day.
Greg was admitted to the Minnesota State Bar Association and the United States District Court of Minnesota in 1999. He obtained his law degree from William Mitchell College of Law, now Mitchell-Hamline School of Law (https://mitchellhamline.edu/) and received his undergraduate degree from the University of St. Thomas in 1990 (https://www.stthomas.edu/)
Since being admitted to the bar Greg has been an active member in the following legal associations:
- American Association of Justice (https://www.justice.org/)
- Minnesota Association of Justice (https://www.mnaj.org/)
- Minnesota Bar Association (https://www.mnbar.org/)
- Ramsey County Bar Association (https://www.mnbar.org/ramsey-county-bar-association/)
In addition to practicing law and managing the Firm, Greg spent a few years researching and co-authoring a historical book about the St. Paul Curling Club entitled 100 Roaring Years on Selby Avenue, The St. Paul Curling Club (Beaver Pond Press 2012) (https://stpaulcurlingclub.org/).
Being active in your community and giving back to others is a cornerstone of Walsh & Gaertner, P.A.. (https://walsh-gaertner.com/community-involvement/) Personally, Greg continues to volunteer as a coach of high school Mock Trial and club curling. Additionally, he sits on several non-profit boards and community organizations:
St. Thomas Academy Alumni Association (https://www.cadets.com/alumni/alumni/)
Vice President 2019-2020
St. Paul Curling Foundation (https://stpaulcurlingfoundation.org/)
Board Member 2019-2022
St. Paul Curling Club (https://stpaulcurlingclub.org/)

It is not all work and no fun for Greg. In the early days of Walsh & Gaertner when his three children were younger, Greg could be found on the baseball diamond or basketball court coaching in the Eagan Athletic Association. In the middle years he was a proud parent and spectator at high school volleyball matches and baseball games. Now days, time away from the office is spent in the middle of the lake on a pontoon boat enjoying the company of his wife of 23 years.
